The left-handed batter made his ODI debut against the West Indies at Basseterre in June 2016. Since then, he has played 66 matches and scored 2551 runs at a good average of 44.75. Head has also smashed six centuries and 16 half-centuries till now. Notably, all of Head’s ODI hundreds came in winning cause.

The southpaw has played many memorable knocks in ODI cricket to help his nation win matches. No Indian cricket fan can forget Head’s match-winning knock in the ICC World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad.

5. 109 vs New Zealand, Dharamsala, 2023

Travis Head played a match-winning knock against New Zealand in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 league-stage match in Dharamsala.

The southpaw hammered 109 runs off 67 deliveries, with 10 boundaries and seven maximums. Head also stitched a 175-run opening stand with David Warner, who scored 81 runs.

Head’s knock helped Australia post 388 runs. While chasing, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra hit a ton, but it went in vain. The Aussies won the close encounter by only five runs. Head was awarded the Player of the Match for his impressive hundred.

4. 128 vs Pakistan, Adelaide, 2017

The 30-year-old Head smashed his maiden ODI hundred against Pakistan in Adelaide in January 2017.

Australian openers David Warner (179) and Head (128) blasted hundreds in their 284-run opening stand that helped their side finish with 369 runs on the board. While chasing, Pakistan’s Babar Azam notched up a century, but they lost the match by 57 runs.

3. 137 vs India, Ahmedabad, 2023

What could be hailed as Travis Head’s most memorable and crucial ODI innings came during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final against the Indian cricket team at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Batting first, the hosts India made 240 runs. While chasing, Australia lost three quick wickets and were in a bit of trouble. However, Head played a counter-attacking innings to bail his side out of danger.

Once he got going, he became impossible to stop until he hammered 137 runs off 120 deliveries, with 15 fours and four sixes. Head’s knock broke a billion hearts of Indian cricket fans.

The left-handed batter Head was named Player of the Match in the final.

2. 152 vs England Melbourne, 2022

Head scored his first 150 plus score in ODI cricket against England in November 2022. The left-hander played an outstanding knock of 156 runs off 130 deliveries, including 16 boundaries and four sixes. He stitched a 269-run opening standing with David Warner, who made 106 runs. 

Australia scored 355/5 runs in 50 overs. While chasing, England were bundled out for 142 runs. Head bagged the Player of the Match award.

Head’s highest score in ODI cricket came against the England cricket team in Nottingham on September 19, 2024, in the first ODI of the five-match series.

Batting first, England made 315 runs in 50 overs. While chasing a steep target, Australian opener Head attacked from the onset and played the match-winning knock of 154* runs off 129 deliveries. Head hammered 20 boundaries and five maximums during his stay at the crease. His knock helped Australia win the match by seven wickets.
