Daryl Mitchell is one of the most talented cricketers in the New Zealand cricket team. The right-handed batter has represented his nation in all three formats. Mitchell has been an integral part of the Black Caps across formats since making his international debut.

The seam-bowling all-rounder made his test debut against England in Hamilton in December 2019. Mitchell cemented his place in New Zealand’s first-choice XI after Colin de Grandhomme retired in 2022.

Mitchell has been a leading contributor with the bat in the middle order for New Zealand over the last three years. He is a terrific player against both spin and pace, which makes him an asset in test cricket.

Daryl Mitchell played a match-winning knock of 102 runs against Sri Lanka in the Christchurch test in 2023.

Batting first, Kusal Mendis’s 87-run knock guided Sri Lanka to 355. In reply, Mitchell slammed 102 off 193 balls, which helped New Zealand post 373 runs.

Sri Lanka were then bowled out for 302 in their second innings. While chasing 285, Mitchell once again played a fighting knock, scoring 81 crucial runs that helped the hosts win the thrilling clash by two wickets.

Mitchell was named Player of the Match for his brilliant outings with the bat.

4. 102* vs Pakistan, Christchurch, 2021

Daryl Mitchell slammed his maiden test ton during the Christchurch test against Pakistan in 2021. Talking about the match, Pakistan were bowled out for 297 runs as speedster Kyle Jamieson picked a five-wicket haul in the first innings.

In reply, Kane Williamson scored 238 while Mitchell made 102* off 112 balls, which guided the hosts to 659/6d. Pakistan were then bundled out for 186 runs in their second innings and lost the match by an innings and 176 runs.

When New Zealand toured England in 2022, Daryl Mitchell played a fighting knock of 108 runs in the Lord’s test.

New Zealand made 132 and England scored 141 runs in their first innings respectively. The visitors then set up a target of 277 for the hosts after they scored 285 in the second innings. Mitchell top scored with 108 off 203 balls.

While chasing, Joe Root hammered a brilliant match-winning century and remained unbeaten on 115. England won the test by five wickets.

Daryl Mitchell cracked a brilliant century in the Leeds test against England in 2022. New Zealand notched up 329 runs in the first innings after Mitchell top-scored with 109 off 228 balls, with 12 boundaries to his name.

In reply, the hosts made 360 as Jonny Bairstow hammered 162 runs. New Zealand were then bowled out for 326 runs in their second innings. While chasing 296, Joe Root (86*) and Bairstow (71*) guided England to a seven-wicket win.

1. 190 vs England, Nottingham, 2022

Daryl Mitchell’s highest score in test cricket is 190, which came against England in Nottingham in 2022. This was the first time Mitchell notched up a 150+ score in the longest format.

Talking about the match, Mitchell slammed 190 off 318 balls, propelling New Zealand to 553 in the first innings. In reply, Joe Root (176) and Ollie Pope (145) helped England reach 539 runs.

The visitors then made 284 runs after Mitchell played a quickfire knock of 62* in the second innings. England won the match by five wickets as they chased down the target of 299 runs successfully.
