5. Ishan Kishan – 76, Delhi, 2022
Wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan made a fluent 76 against South Africa in the first T20I of the three-match series in 2022. Opening the innings, Kishan cracked 76 runs off 48 balls, managing a strike rate of 158.33.
Kishan’s innings, consisting of 11 fours and three sixes, guided India to a mammoth score of 211 while batting first. However, South Africa claimed the victory by chasing down the target with five balls to spare. David Miller was named Player of the Match.
4. Manish Pandey – 79*, Centurion, 2018
Manish Pandey’s unbeaten knock of 79 against South Africa came in a T20I in 2018 in Centurion. Batting first in the second T20I of the three-match series, Pandey’s excellent 79 off 48 balls helped India post a competitive total of 188.
His magnificent knock consisted of six fours and three sixes. Pandey’s batting effort, though, wasn’t enough as South Africa clinched the victory by six wickets and with eight balls to spare.
3. Suryakumar Yadav – 100, Johannesburg, 2023
One of India’s best-ever T20 batsmen, Suryakumar Yadav registered his fourth century in T20I cricket with an impressive knock of 100 against South Africa at Johannesburg in 2023. Trailing 1-0 in the three-match series, Yadav helped India post a daunting total of 201 runs in the first innings.
His record-breaking knock, consisting of seven fours and eight sixes, came at a healthy strike rate of 178.57. India won the game by 106 runs and Suryakumar was named Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series for his consistent performances.
2. Suresh Raina – 101, Gros Islet
Suresh Raina etched his name in record books with his century against South Africa in a group game at the ICC Men’s World Cup 2010. Raina’s explosive knock of 101 came in 60 balls at a strike rate of 168.33.
This century helped Raina become the first Indian to register a century in T20I cricket. Raina’s innings helped India reach a total of 186 in the first innings. India eventually won the game by 14 runs, and Raina was named Player of the Match for his sizzling century.
1. Rohit Sharma – 106, Dharamsala
Rohit Sharma holds the record for the highest individual score for India against South Africa in T20I cricket. Rohit achieved this feat in the first T20I of the three-match series in 2015 in Dharamsala.
Rohit’s blistering knock of 106 runs came off 66 balls. It included 12 fours and five sixes, helping India reach a total of 199. However, South Africa’s JP Duminy countered with an unbeaten 68 off 34 balls, leading his side to victory.
