Batters aim to score more runs in fewer balls, which puts the bowlers on the receiving end. There have been some occasions when Indian batters have displayed some great assault and scored many runs in a single over.

5. Rohit Sharma (29 runs) vs Mitchell Starc, Gros Islet, 2024
India won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 under Rohit Sharma, and the captain played some unbelievable innings in the tournament. One of his best innings came against Australia in the Super 8 round in Gros Islet.
He scored a 41-ball 92 and scored 29 runs off Mitchell Starc’s one over in the innings. It was the third over of the game, and Rohit hit four sixes and one four, and one run came off wide to collect 29 runs in the over.
4. Sanju Samson (30 runs) vs Rishad Hossain, Hyderabad, 2024
Sanju Samson holds the record for the second-fastest century for India in T20I cricket. He slammed a 40-ball century against Bangladesh in Hyderabad in 2024. During the game, he smashed five sixes in an over off Rishad Hossain to collect 30 runs.
Samson scored 111 runs off 47 balls, with 11 fours and eight sixes, to help India post their highest total in T20I cricket – 297/6.
3. Ruturaj Gaikwad & Tilak Varma (30 runs) vs Glenn Maxwell, Guwahati, 2023
The pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma also had an occasion when they scored 30 runs in an over. It came against Glenn Maxwell in Guwahati in 2023. It was the final over of the innings, and Gaikwad hit three sixes and two fours.
There were two wides and two singles as well to make it a 30-run over. However, Maxwell turned out to be a hero in that game. In the second innings, Maxwell hit a 48-ball 104 and helped Australia chase the target and win the game. Gaikwad scored a 57-ball 123 in the first innings.
2. Rohit Sharma & Rinku Singh (36 runs) vs Karim Janat, Bengaluru, 2024
There have been six occasions when a bowler conceded 36 or more runs in an over in T20I cricket. One of such occasion was recorded in the India vs Afghanistan clash in Bengaluru in 2024. Rohit Sharma (121* off 69) and Rinku Singh (69* off 39) slammed 36 runs off the last over of the innings bowled by Afghanistan’s Karim Janat.
Rohit hit two sixes and one four, while Rinku hit three consecutive sixes in that over. There was a single and a no-ball as well. Both teams made 212, and it was a tie, but India won the game in the second Super Over.
1. Yuvraj Singh (36 runs) vs Stuart Broad, Durban, 2007
Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes off Stuart Broad is one of the most iconic moments in Indian cricket history. It came in the ICC T20 World Cup 2007 in Durban when Yuvraj hit a 12-ball fifty.
He hit Broad for six consecutive sixes and became the first batter to do so in T20I cricket. His innings helped India reach 218/4, and India won by 18 runs.
