Australian middle-order batter Travis Head has been one of the most dangerous test batsmen in the world since his return to the side in the 2021 Ashes.

Head made his test debut against Pakistan in 2018 in Dubai but it took him three years to cement his spot in the side.

5. 152 vs India, Brisbane, 2024

Travis Head played a blitzing knock in the third test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Brisbane. Continuing his form from Adelaide, Head smashed second ton of the series after having scored 140 in the second test in Adelaide.

After being asked to bat first, Australia were at 75/3 at one stage before Travis Head and Steve Smith stitched a mammoth partnership of 241 runs with both of them scoring their respective centuries. Soon after India took the new ball, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed both Smith and Head, ending the latter’s innings at 152. During his stay, Head faced 160 deliveries and hit 18 boundaries.

4. 152 vs England, Brisbane, 2021

Travis Head played a sensational knock of 152 runs in the first test of the 2021 Ashes series in Brisbane. This was Head’s comeback test.

Replying to England’s 147, Australia made 425 runs in the first innings on the back of Head’s sublime knock which included 14 boundaries and four sixes. Australia won the one-sided test by 10 wickets and Head was named Player of the Match for his majestic ton.

3. 161 vs Sri Lanka, Canberra, 2019

Head’s maiden test century came in Canberra during Sri Lanka’s tour of Australia in 2019. After opting to bat first, the Australian innings was anchored by Travis Head, who scored 161 off just 204 balls.

The southpaw joined hands with Kurtis Patterson to add 308 runs for the fourth wicket. Head’s superb innings included 27 fours and a six. Australia won the test by 366 runs.

2. 163 vs India, The Oval, 2023

One of Travis Head’s most memorable test innings came at the grand stage of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 final at The Oval against India.

Head’s counterattacking innings, which consisted of 25 fours and a six, propelled Australia to a massive first innings score of 469 runs in the first innings.

Australia won the final by 209 runs on the final day and Head was named Player of the Match for his match-defining knock.

1. 175 vs West Indies, Adelaide, 2022

Travis Head hit his highest test score of 175 during the Adelaide test against West Indies in 2022.

Opting to bat first, Australia notched up 511/7d on the back of Head’s stunning century, which included 20 fours. Head followed up his brilliant innings with a quickfire unbeaten 38-run knock off 27 balls to help Australia post a target of 497 runs.

The hosts ultimately won the game by 419 runs and Head was named Player of the Match.
