The Pakistan cricket team made their debut in test cricket in October 1952.

Pakistan have been playing test cricket since 1952 and regularly undergo ups and downs in this format. But on their best days, they have thoroughly dominated their opposition.

Pakistan have recorded some tall totals in test cricket. They have scored 600 runs or more 15 times in test cricket and hold the record for the fifth-highest test total of all time.

Scoring big totals gives you an edge over your opposition, and posting over 600 runs bats the opposition out of the game, putting your side out of the threat of a loss. In this article, we will talk about the top five highest totals made by the Pakistan cricket team in test cricket.

List of the top five highest team totals by Pakistan in test cricket:

5. 674/6 vs India, Faisalabad, 1984

The Pakistani batters made hay against arch-rivals India in 1984 in the Faisalabad test. India posted a big first-inning total of 500 runs in 163 overs.

In reply, Pakistan out-batted India, stretching their innings for two and a half days and scored 674/6 in 224.5 overs. The game ended with a draw. Qasim Umar (224) slammed a brilliant double century, while Mudassar Nazar missed his double ton by just one run, and Saleem Malik scored an unbeaten 102.

4. 679/7d vs India, Lahore, 2006

The 2006 Lahore test between India and Pakistan was a run feast that ended in a draw. It started with Pakistan scoring a massive total in the first innings. They batted for almost two days and declared at 679/7 in 143.3 overs.

Younis Khan (199), Mohammad Yousuf (173), Shahid Afridi (103 off 80), and Kamran Akmal (102* off 81) scored centuries to help the team reach a massive total.

India also replied strongly with the third-highest opening stand in test cricket of 410 runs. Virender Sehwag made 254 off 247 balls while Dravid was unbeaten at 128.
