Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to clash in the 63rd match of the Indian Premier League 2026 on May 18. The encounter will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Both Chennai and Hyderabad are in the race for the playoffs. Pat Cummins & Co. take the third spot in the points table with 14 points, having won seven out of 12 games.
On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. take the fifth spot with 12 points, having won six and lost six out of 12 matches. They will have to win both of their remaining games to qualify for the playoffs; however, the results of other matches can make a difference.
It is a crucial game for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they can bag a berth in the playoffs if they defeat CSK. Moreover, their victory will also benefit the Gujarat Titans (GT).
GT will qualify for the playoffs if SRH beat CSK

If Sunrisers outplay Chennai Super Kings tonight, GT will also qualify for the playoffs. Gujarat take the second spot in the points table with 16 points, followed by SRH with 14 points.
With SRH’s victory, both GT and Hyderabad will have 16 points in their kitty and will confirm their berth in the top 4. In such a situation, RCB, GT and SRH will qualify for the playoffs and only one place will remain vacant. Any one of PBKS, CSK, RR, DC or KKR are among the strong contenders for the final spot.
So far, only RCB have qualified for the playoffs with one more game left to play. After winning their previous game against the Punjab Kings, they became the first team to book a berth in the playoffs.
The Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have been eliminated from the tournament. The rest of the teams are active in the playoffs race.
