Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are clashing in match 60 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first in the clash, which is taking place at Eden Gardens on May 16.
This is the second clash between both sides in IPL 2026. Earlier, they locked horns in the 25th match of the tournament, where Gujarat defeated KKR by five wickets, chasing a 181-run target.
Tonight’s clash is very crucial for both Kolkata and Gujarat. GT can become the first team to qualify for the playoffs with a victory in the clash. On the other hand, KKR need to win at any cost to keep their playoffs hopes alive. Moreover, the result of the match can also affect Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
How will the result of KKR vs GT match affect RCB?
With 16 points each, RCB and GT hold the top two positions in the points table. If KKR win the match, Bengaluru will benefit as GT won’t be able to leapfrog them in the points table. It will also increase Bengaluru’s chances of a top-two finish.
On the contract, the Rajat Patidar & Co. will lose their peak position if Gujarat defeat KKR. Moreover, it will become challenging for Bengaluru to claim the top two spots later. They will have to battle with other teams for the top two finish, which will make the task more difficult.
Notably, teams finishing in the top two positions get two opportunities to make it to the final. Moreover, they can also reach the final by directly winning their first game i.e. Qualifier 1. The team in the third and fourth positions have to win two games in a row to seal a spot in the summit clash.
Meanwhile, both RCB and GT have played 12 games so far, winning eight and losing four. They have an equal 16 points, but Bengaluru own a better Net Run Rate (NRR).
