Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spinner Noor Ahmad had a dismal start in the Indian Premier League 2026. He went wicketless in the first three games and picked up one wicket in the fourth match.
However, the Afghan spinner rocked the field in the CSK vs KKR clash on Tuesday, April 14. He clinched a three-wicket haul in the clash, playing a key role in CSK’s victory.
He picked crucial wickets that hampered KKR’s middle-order during the chase. CSK won the encounter by 32 runs, and Noor was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling show.
MS Dhoni’s advice helped Noor Ahmad
After the match, CSK assistant bowling coach Sridharan Sriram revealed that Noor had benefited from a long chat with MS Dhoni in the practice sessions. He also added that Dhoni asked him to work on his leg breaks.
“It was good. The wicket helped today. There was a little bit of turn for him. The other wickets are quite flat, but today it was a little slower through the air. There was more side spin on the ball and more drop,” Sriram said.
“That is something he has been working on. Even MS had a long chat with him in one of the practice sessions, especially about getting his leg-break going. I think it was very helpful today, and the results were there to see,” he added.
Notably, Dhoni is yet to play his first game for CSK in IPL 2026. Due to a calf injury, he was ruled out of the initial games. However, he has started training in the nets.
Speaking about the CSK vs KKR match, Chennai posted 192/5 in the first innings with crucial knocks by Sanju Samson (48), Ayush Mhatre (38), and Dewald Brevis (41).
KKR lost both openers in the power play. Losing six wickets before 100 runs on the scoreboard, they flopped with their batting show and eventually ended with 160/7 in 20 overs.
