Rishabh Pant appeared on the special podcast with Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan.
Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has recounted how he would sledge veteran cricketers Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan on the pitch. Pant, known for his stump mic-captured exchanges, threw a taunt at former England captain Michael Vaughan.
Pant has been out of competitive cricket since a catastrophic injury in December 2022. The left-handed hitter endured several procedures in Mumbai. After more than a year of recovery, the batter is now ready to return to cricket.
Pant was in good batting form before the automobile accident, which necessitated significant rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. After the mishap, the wicket-keeper batter went through a tough recovery process to restore his fitness and form.
The 26-year-old will captain the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The BCCI just cleared him to play as a wicket-keeper batter.
“Focusing too much on social media”- Pant reveals how he would sledge Michael Vaughan
Rishabh Pant, India’s wicket-keeper, joined legendary cricketers Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan on the Club Prairie Fire video podcast and trolled the former England captain about his social media addiction.
Gilchrist asked Pant how he would sledge Vaughan if they played against each other. Pant, after all, is renowned for making cheeky remarks from behind the stumps when he plays for Team India.
“I’m interested, how would you engage Michael Vaughan in a verbal stoush on the field. What are you saying to put him off his game?” Gilchrist asked Pant.
“Don’t have to say much,” said Vaughan with a cheeky smile on his face.
“I would say you are focussing too much on social media instead of playing your cricket,” Pant replied and left everyone on the podcast in splits. “And you’d be right,” Gilchrist agreed.
The host then requested Pant to go after Gilchrist, but the Delhi Capitals captain refused because the former Australian stumper was “anyways off” while batting.
“I think he’s anyways off when he was playing. He’s in his own zone you can’t disturb these kind of players,” Pant said with a smile on his face.
