PSL 2026: Hyderabad Kingsmen appoint THIS Australian star as captain for upcoming season
Hyderabad Kingsmen is one of the new teams in PSL 2026.
The Pakistan Super League 2026 is all set to commence on March 26 and witness a battle among eight teams for the title. Two new teams have been added to the tournament this year.
Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindi are the two new franchises; these two teams will play their inaugural season in PSL 2026. Moreover, players have been bought through an auction this season instead of the draft.
Hence, the PSL 2026 auction took place on February 11, where all eight franchises bought their favourite players. All the teams were allowed to directly sign one foreign player who was not part of the previous season.
Hyderabad Kingsmen appoint Marnus Labuschagne as captain for PSL 2026
Notably, Hyderabad Kingmen picked star Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne as a direct signing for PSL 2026 at INR 5.88 crore (US$210,000). Now, they have also appointed him as the captain for their inaugural season.
The franchise announced the news through their official Instagram account. Labuschagne was expected to miss the initial games of PSL 2026 due to his commitments in the Sheffield Shield tournament. However, since his team Queensland has been eliminated, he will be available for the complete season.
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Pakistan all-rounder Saim Ayub are a few other top signings of Hyderabad Kingsmen. Former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie is the head coach for the side. They will play their home games at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, Pakistan.
Hyderabad Kingsmen will play the PSL 2026 opener against Lahore Qalandars on March 26 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
