India and New Zealand will clash in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday, March 9. This will be the second time these two teams clash in the summit meeting, as they had previously fought for the title in 2000 edition of the tournament, when it was known as ICC Knockout Trophy.
During that meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, Chris Cairns’ century helped Stephen Fleming’s New Zealand defeat Sourav Ganguly-led Indian team by four wickets.
After sharing the trophy with Sri Lanka in 2002 and winning the title in 2013, India have the opportunity to earn a third title (second outright), while New Zealand will be aiming for their second. After losing to Pakistan in the 2017 edition’s final, the team captained by Rohit Sharma is making their third consecutive appearance in the final.
After winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, they also hope to win consecutive ICC crowns. After losing to Australia in the 2023 World Test Championship and ODI World Cup finals, this is India’s fourth straight ICC final.
How much winners and losers will earn after ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final?
