India will start their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign against Bangladesh.

The ICC Champions Trophy will return after an eight-year gap. The tournament was last held in 2017 in England, where Pakistan were crowned champions.

This year’s edition, set to be hosted by Pakistan, has not been without controversies. After extensive discussions between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and the International Cricket Council (ICC), it was decided that the tournament will be held in a hybrid format, with India playing all their games in Dubai.

There had been rumours that the BCCI had opposed putting Pakistan’s name on the Champions Trophy logo on their jersey and will instead feature only Dubai’s name.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has now clarified the board’s stance on the matter.

Indian team jersey will have Pakistan imprint, confirms BCCI secretary

Speaking to IndiaToday.in, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia emphasized that the board will follow the ICC guidelines, refuting earlier reports that suggested BCCI was against displaying Pakistan’s name on their jersey.

Saikia said, “BCCI’s stand is loud and clear: whatever guidelines the ICC sets for the Champions Trophy 2025, including those regarding the jersey logo, we will follow. There was never any intention to violate any such guidelines.

So, whatever was going on in the media, I have seen it. I don’t know where they got that information from. But the BCCI has no reason to violate or ignore any of the guidelines. BCCI will follow the dress code and the logo for the Champions Trophy 2025 as formulated by the ICC.
