ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Most runs, most wickets after match 1, PAK vs NZ

New Zealand defeated Pakistan 60 runs in the first game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
On Wednesday, February 19, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 60 runs in Karachi to kick off the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Batting first, New Zealand were led by centuries from Tom Latham (118) and Will Young (107), who stitched a 118-run stand for the fourth wicket to set the platform for a massive first-innings total.
Glenn Phillips then provided the finishing touches, smashing 61 off 39 balls, including three fours and four sixes, to propel New Zealand to 320/5 in 50 overs.
Pakistan’s run chase got off to a poor start as they managed just 22 runs in the powerplay with the loss of two wickets. Babar Azam posted a half-century for the hosts scoring 64 runs off 90 balls but faced heavy criticism for his slow strike rate.
The hosts ultimately were bowled out for 260, handing a 60-run win to the Kiwis.

Thanks to their centuries in the opening game, Tom Latham and Will Young top the run-scoring charts of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with 118 and 107 runs, respectively.
Pakistan’s Khushdil Shah is in the third place with 69 runs. Babar Azam and Glenn Phillips complete the list with 64 and 61 runs, respectively.

Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf hold the third and fourth spots with two wickets each (Naseem is ahead due to a better bowling average). Nathan Smith rounds off the list with one wicket.
