ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Intel warns terror threat as terrorist organisations plot to kidnap foreigners -  Reports

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is being held in Pakistan and Dubai under a hybrid model.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has lived up to the hype and has featured some nail-biting contests, including standout games like England vs Australia in Lahore and the India-Pakistan clash in Dubai.

India have emerged as early favorites in the tournament, winning their first two games against neighbours Bangladesh and Pakistan and are on the verge of qualifying for the semi-finals. Australia, on the other hand, despite missing key players, staged the highest-ever run-chase in Champions Trophy history against England.

Notably, hosts Pakistan are in danger of becoming the first team to be knocked out of the competition. The Green Team have been criticized for their lack of intent with the bat and have emerged as one of the weakest teams in the tournament.

Recent reports, however, have raised serious concerns about the teams and tourists who have toured Pakistan for the marquee ICC event.

Intel warns terror threat as terrorist organisations plot to kidnap foreigners -Reports

Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau has reportedly issued a high alert over ‘active covert groups’ posing threats to foreigners who have come to Pakistan to watch ICC Champions Trophy matches.

According to a report by CNN-News18, the Intelligence Bureau has warned security forces about alleged conspiracies to abduct foreign nationals attending the ICC event. The alert includes threats by terrorist groups like Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), ISIS and other Balochistan-based groups.

Security forces have now deployed elite protection teams, including rangers and local police, to safeguard players and their staff.

Earlier, the Indian government had refused to send the Indian Cricket Team to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, citing security concerns. As a result, a hybrid model was decided, with India playing all their games in Dubai.

The semi-finals of the tournament will be played on March 4 and 5, with the final scheduled for March 9.
