Afghanistan have arrived in India and are currently preparing in Thiruvananthapuram.
Afghanistan cricket team have unveiled their jersey for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Afghanistan Cricket Board revealed the team jersey on social media platform X (Twitter), with their star leg-spinner Rashid Khan and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi wearing Afghanistan jersey. Afghanistan will be playing in their third-ever World Cup event. Afghanistan failed to create an impact in the previous World Cup editions, but they are considered the dark horses for the upcoming mega event.
Afghanistan unveil jersey
Afghanistan jersey will now have a mix of three colours rather than only one, as they had in Asia Cup 2023. Afghanistan’s jersey will have a mix of grey and red colours, representing balance and courage. Jersey will carry a red strip on the sleeves along with their iconic royal blue colour. Amul will be the lead sponsor of Afghanistan in World Cup, along with SYSKA.
Afghanistan have arrived in India and are currently preparing for the warm-up round matches at Greenfield Cricket Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. They will take on South Africa in their opening warm-up fixture on September 29th and then take on Sri Lanka at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on October 3rd. Afghanistan have a strong spin bowling attack to back themselves in World Cup. Fans are expecting a few upsets from them as the conditions will be favourable, and they have also got a little experience playing in India.
Along with captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, all-rounders Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi will be their X-factors. Rashid, Nabi, and Gurbaz’s Indian Premier League experience will also be useful for Afghanistan squad in the tournament. Afghanistan didn't have a good run in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023. They almost chased down 292 runs against Sri Lanka in 37 overs. Afghanistan will commence their league round against Bangladesh at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on October 7.
