Netherlands defeated South Africa by 38 runs to register their first win in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

In a thrilling clash at Dharamshala, Netherlands secured their first-ever victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, while South Africa suffered their first loss of the tournament. South Africa won the toss and chose to field first in a rain-affected game reduced to 43 overs.

Netherlands set a competitive target of 246 runs for Proteas, with skipper Scott Edwards leading the way with an impressive 78 not out. Roelof van der Merwe's fiery 29 and Aryan Dutt's explosive 23* helped them reach 245/8 in their allotted overs. Lungi Ngidi ,Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen all three claimed two wickets each for South Africa.

In response, South Africa struggled to find momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. Heinrich Klaasen's 28 and David Miller's 43 were the only notable contribution. While Keshav Maharaj's tried to get it for South Africa but was too late. Dutch bowlers, restricted South Africa to 207 in 42.5 overs.
