In a thrilling clash between India and New Zealand of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, held in Dharamsala, India won the toss and chose to field, setting the stage for a nail-biting contest between the table-toppers. New Zealand batted first and put up a competitive total of 273 runs.
Devon Conway was dismissed early for a duck, and Will Young added 17 runs before Mohammed Shami claimed his wicket. Rachin Ravindra played a brilliant innings of 75 runs, and Daryl Mitchell's century (130 runs) was the backbone of New Zealand innings. Mohammed Shami was the standout bowler for India, taking five crucial wickets.
In reply, India's top-order performed well, with Rohit Sharma scoring 46 runs and Shubman Gill contributing 26 runs. Virat Kohli's 95 and Ravindra Jadeja's 39 were instrumental in India's successful chase. India chased down the target in 48 overs and ended with scores of 274/6.
This victory made India the only unbeaten team in the tournament, while New Zealand suffered their first defeat, making it a significant win for India on the road to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
