New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in match No. 41 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

New Zealand put on a dominating performance in the 41st match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, held in Bengaluru, as they emerged victorious against Sri Lanka. After winning the toss, New Zealand opted to field first.

Sri Lanka’s innings started off on a shaky note, losing wickets at regular intervals. Kusal Perera provided some resistance with a quick-fire 51, but Kiwi bowlers, led by Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner, who kept the pressure on. Maheesh Theekshana’s unbeaten 38 provided some late resistance, guiding Sri Lanka to a total of 171 in 46.4 overs.

Chasing a target of 172 runs, New Zealand’s top-order displayed commendable batting. Devon Conway’s 45 and Rachin Ravindra’s 42 set the foundation for a successful chase. Despite a couple of wickets falling, Daryl Mitchell’s 43 ensured New Zealand reached the target comfortably in just 23.2 overs with a score of 172/5.
