England defeated Bangladesh by 1 runs in match 7 of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, England secured their first win against Bangladesh after losing to New Zealand in the tournament opener. England top-order batted brilliantly, scoring 364-9 in 50 overs. Jonny Bairstow (52), Dawid Malan (140), and Joe Root (82) were top performers. Bangladesh chose to field first after winning the toss. Shoriful Islam (3) and Mahedi Hasan (4) were the leading wicket-takers for Bangladesh. England reached a total of 364 runs for the loss of nine wickets. England's lower middle-order fell short to Bangladesh bowlers and gave away there wickets in quick succession.

Bangladesh were bundled out for 227 in 48.2 overs. Litton Das (76) and Mushfiqur Rahim (51) were the top- scorers. Reece Topley took four wickets for England. Despite their efforts, Bangladesh couldn't chase down England's target of 365 runs.

England have registered their first win of the tournament against Bangladesh and this win will be confidence booster for them going ahead in the tournament. The points table standing sees New Zealand at the top of the table. South Africa find themselves at second. Pakistan are at third position. India after a win over Australia find themselves at the fourth position. England with the win over Bangladesh get two points and they climb up at the fifth position with a NRR of +0.553. Bangladesh see themselves at sixth position with NRR of -0.653. Followed on by Australia, Afghanistan, Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

As the seventh match of the tournament was getting over in Dharamsala, Kusal Mendis of Sri Lanka scored a century in eighth match of the tournament against Pakistan and now finds himself at first position after his 122-run knock. New Zealand's opener Devon Conway is second on the leading runs scorer list with 184 runs.

Rachin Ravindra holds the third position in the table with 174 runs. Joe Root of England made an entry after his 82 against Bangladesh and is on fourth position with 159 runs. Dawid Malan scored a magnificent 140 against Bengal Tigers and is on the fifth position with 154 runs.

Pakistan's Hasan Ali is second with six wickets to his name. New Zealand's Matt Henry is third with 6 wickets. Netherlands all-rounder Bas De Leede finds himself at the fourth position of leading wicket-takers list. Pakistan's Haris Rauf is fifth with five wickets to his name.
