ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule announced, Tournament to start on 5th October, Final on 19th November

A Total of 10 teams will take on each other for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the much-anticipated World Cup 2023 scheduled in India in October and November. This will be the 4th World Cup to be held on Indian soil. The tournament is set to start on 5th October with defending champions England taking on runners up New Zealand at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. The tournament is set to be played in 10 different venues around 10 different cities. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will host grand finale of the tournament on 19th November. Fans' most anticipated India vs Pakistan clash will happen on 15th October in Ahmedabad.
10 teams will take part in the 13th edition of the Championship. A total of 48 matches are to be played around 12 venues in India. Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata are the 10 cities that will host 10 teams playing for the ultimate ICC title. Defending Champions England will begin their campaign against New Zealand in the tournament opener at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 5th October, India will play their games in 9 different cities. The tournament will be played on the 1992, and 2019 World Cup model, where each team will take on each other in a single round-robin format.

2 teams will be decided in World Cup qualifiers
So far 8 teams have been finalised and 2 will be decided next month in ICC World Cup Qualifiers Final 2023 in Zimbabwe. World Cup qualifiers taking place in Zimbabwe from 18th June to 9th July. Two former World Champions West Indies and Sri Lanka will also take part in the qualifiers and fight for their respective places in the big World Cup 2023. Along with India, Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have qualified for the main round. All these teams did well during the 4-year cycle of the World Super League and cemented their place in the World Cup 2023. The 2019 World Cup was also played with 10 teams and 48 games in England. Next World Cup in 2027 will see an increase in number of teams to 14 in the tournament.
History of the ICC Cricket World Cup
In the last 12 editions, 6 teams have been crowned as World Champions. The tournament started in 1975 in England with 60 Overs ODIs format. West Indies were crowned champions for the inaugural edition of the World Cup. West Indies won the next one in 1979 in England as well. England hosted three back-to-back World Cups and 1983 was also played in English conditions. India became the 2nd team to earn the World Cup title in 1983. Australia became the third team by winning the 1987 World Cup.
The 1992 edition was held in Australia where Pakistan became the 4th team to lift the title. Underdogs Sri Lanka won their only title in 1996 hosted in the Indian sub-continent. England were back as the hosts in 1999 when Australia were crowned champions. Australia won three back-to-back titles in 1999, 2003 in South Africa, and 2007 in the West Indies. India won their 2nd World Cup title in 2011 in their backyard. Australia once again became Champions by winning the 2015 World Cup in Australia. England were lucky enough to win their maiden World Cup title in 2019 as hosts.
