South Africa's World Cup jersey
South Africa’s newly released jersey carries their iconic dark green colour with a yellow stripe on the collar and the shoulder along with a touch of black and red to give it a touch of the South African national flag. Newly announced sponsor Amul’s presence is also there on the left-hand sleeve of the jersey. Cricket South Africa’s logo along with ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 logo will also be placed in the South African jersey.
CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki announced Amul as their team sponsor and said, “We are pleased to announce our association with Amul for the 50-overs ICC Cricket World Cup. Amul is a brand that is synonymous with excellence and consistency which reflects our own commitment to playing World Class cricket.” Amul has always been involved in ICC events and they have been sponsoring major teams along with a few associate counties as well.
Amul’s managing director Jayen Mehta said that sports is a great medium to connect with the people. After the announcement, Mehta said, “Sports is an important medium for Amul to connect with today’s generation… Since Amul had associated with the South Africa team in the 2019 series, we are proud to build our association with the South Africa men’s cricket team and wish them all the best for the World Cup.”
South Africa’s opening warm-up game against Afghanistan was a complete washout in Trivandrum. They will have one more opportunity as a warm-up game against New Zealand on 2nd October before they fly to Delhi and play Sri Lanka in their World Cup opening fixture at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium on 7th October. Temba Bavuma-led side will be eyeing to win their maiden World Cup.
