David Miller slammed a 67-ball unbeaten ton against New Zealand in the second semi-final in Lahore.

It was yet another heartbreak for the South Africa cricket team and their fans as they suffered a 50-run defeat in the second semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. That defeat knocked them out of the race. David Miller was the shining light for the Proteas.

The Southpaw slammed the fastest ton in ICC Champions Trophy history and remained unbeaten at 100 runs off 67 balls, with 10 fours and four sixes. His late exploits helped South Africa reach 312, but that wasn’t enough.

They fell well short of the target, and their hopes of winning an ICC title were crushed yet again. However, Miller dedicated the record ton to his newborn son and celebrated the hundred with a rocking gesture.

David Miller completed his sixth ODI century off the very last ball of the match in the second semi-final at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. His hundred went in vain as South Africa lost the game, but it was his late flourish that took the team to a respectable total from 218/8.

After scoring his ton, Miller was seen doing a rocking gesture with the bat. Miller’s wife, Camilla, reacted to the hundred and celebration and shared an emotional post on Instagram. She wrote, “100 not out. Beyond proud of you, my baby! Your celebration for our special Banji had me in tears. We love you, my champ.”

Notably, the couple welcomed their baby boy, Benjamin, on January 30. David Miller ended up scoring the third century of the game. Earlier, New Zealand had two centurions. Rachin Ravindra slammed an 101-ball 108, while Kane Williamson scored 102 off 94 balls. Both added a massive second-wicket stand of 164 runs, which helped New Zealand post a big total of 362/6.

Daryl Mitchell (49 off 37) and Glenn Phillips (49* off 27) also played good cameos. For South Africa, none of the top order could play a big innings. Temba Bavuma (56 off 71) and Rassie van der Dussen (69 off 66) scored fifties, but couldn’t continue for long. As a result, New Zealand have qualified for the final, where they will face India on Sunday in Dubai.
