The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final is set for a thrilling finish with New Zealand staging a comeback in the second innings.

Chasing 252, India got off to a great start with openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill guiding the team past the 100-run mark in the 18th over. Rohit, in particular, took an aggressive approach, while Shubman Gill played the anchor role.

The game took a turn after the drinks break as Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell removed Gill and Virat Kohli, leaving India at 106/2 in the 20th over. These wickets were followed by tight bowling from the New Zealand spinners, who bowled 11 consecutive dot balls between the 25th and 26th overs.

Rohit, in an attempt to break the shackles, went for a big shot against Rachin Ravindra and was stumped, leaving India at 122/3. The Indian captain had adjusted to the situation after the first two wickets, but his failed attempt of hitting the ball allowed the Kiwis to get back into the contest.

The Men in Blue will now look to Shreyas Iyer to play a match-winning innings.
