Please wait for 30 seconds for the live blog to update.

The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 is only 100 days ahead, and the much-awaited schedule will be announced today, June 27, 2023. The announcement will be at 11:30 AM. India will be the only host of the 2023 edition of the tournament for the first time in history. They were co-hosts of the 1987, 1996 and 2011 editions along with the fellow subcontinent neighbours Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. For the past three editions, the hosts have come out on top, and India will, thus, fancy their chances in the 2023 edition.

The tournament, scheduled to be played in October and November 2023, will have 10 teams compete for the top prize. The hosts, India, and the top seven sides of the Super League - Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa have already booked their berths at the quadrennial mega event. The bottom five teams of the Super League (Ireland, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe), the top three teams from League 2 (Nepal, Oman and Scotland) and the top two teams from the Qualifier Play-off (the United Arab Emirates and the United States) will compete in the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers for the final two berths at the mega event.

The Qualifiers are ongoing as we await for the mega event schedule. We already know the top six teams of the ten teams playing in the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Scotland, Netherlands, West Indies and Oman have qualified for the Super Six stage of the Qualifiers. The six teams will play each other once in the round-robin format and the top two teams at the end of the Super Six will qualify for the main event in October and November 2023.

As for the format of the main event, each team of the 10 qualified will play each other in the round-robin format once, and the top-four teams will play in the semi-finals of the tournament. The final of the tournament is said to be taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

There is already a draft dispatched by the BCCI for the World Cup schedule. According to it, India will begin their campaign against Australia, and will next play Afghanistan before locking horns with eternal rivals Pakistan. However, there have been controversies surrounding the venues for the game against Pakistan. One can only wait and know the true details of the schedule until it is out.
