ICC T20 World Cup 2024 schedule, fixtures, groups announced; India to face Pakistan on 9th June

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will begin on 1st of June with USA and Canada taking on each other.
The official schedule for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and the USA is out. The 9th edition of the mega T20I event will begin on 1st of June with hosts USA taking on Canada. The tournament’s big business encounter between India and Pakistan will be played on 9th June at Eisenhower Park in New York. This will be India’s second league game in the tournament.
India are placed in group A along with Pakistan, Ireland, and hosts USA and Canada. India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on 5th June at Eisenhower Park in New York. India will be playing all of their league game in USA. New York’s Eisenhower Park will host India’s first three league games and then India will travel to Miami to play Canada.
USA to host 16 games
United States of America are hosting an ICC tournament for the very first time in their history. A total of 16 matches will be played in the country. New York, Florida, and Texas will be hosting 16 games in USA. West Indies will be hosting the World T20 event for the second time. ICC T20 World Cup 2010 was played in West Indies which England won.

5th June: India vs Ireland in New York
9th June: India vs Pakistan in New York
12th June: India vs Pakistan in New York
15th June: India vs Canada in Florida
England and Australia are placed in group B along with Namibia, Scotland, and Oman. Hosts West Indies are in group C along with New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea. Group D consists of South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Bangladesh and Nepal. For the first time 20 teams will be taking part in an ICC event.

Group A: India, Pakistan, USA, Ireland, and Canada
Group B: England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman
Group C: New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea
Group D: South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and Nepal
West Indies will be hosting the knockout rounds. The first semi-final will be played at Georgetown in Guyana on 26th June. The second semi-final will be played at Port of Spain in Trinidad on 27th June. Bridgetown in Barbados will host the big finals on 29th June. India played the semi-finals of the previous ICC T20 World Cup event in Australia and suffered a crushing defeat against England.
