ICC team in India to inspect Cricket World Cup 2023 venues, will visit all 12 stadiums

A total of 10 venues will host the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 matches in India.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) team is currently on a visit to India for the recce of World Cup venues. ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule was out in the last week of June. A total of 10 venues were picked to host the main event games, while two more will be hosting the Warn-up games before the league round commences. ICC’s team comprising security, events, and broadcast experts started their recce with Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Wankhede Stadium will be hosting 5 World Cup games along with one semifinal. 

Team currently at Narendra Modi Stadium

The ICC team is currently visiting Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad will be hosting the tournament opener along with big business game India vs Pakistan and the Final on 19th November. The tournament schedule might see some changes as the Gujarat authorities have suggested changing the date of India vs Pakistan clash as 15th October will be the first of the Holy 9-day Hindu festival of Navratri. 2-3 other full ICC members have asked for a schedule change. The final schedule after the change will be out in a day or two. 

Mumbai to meet on ticket prices soon

MCA President Amol Kole informed that the ICC team expressed satisfaction over the preparation at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Amol Kole while talking to the media said, “They are extremely happy with our planning. The only thing left to address from our side is the ticketing issue. We have called an apex council meeting on Monday to decide on pricing and we will inform the BCCI accordingly”. Mumbai, Lucknow, Dharamshala, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, and Chennai are the grounds for the main event. 

Team suggested changes in Trivandrum's Greenfield

After the Wankhede, ICC’s team visited Chennai, Bangalore, and Trivandrum. Trivandrum’s Greenfield will be hosting warmup games before the main event. The team suggested a few modifications at Greenfield’s corporate box and player's areas. Guwahati’s Barsapara will also host warm-up games. There were issues at Chennai’s Chepauk and Bangalore’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Team after inspecting Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will go to Hyderabad. ICC’s team will be suggesting on-the-ground matters related to Players, Officials, Media, and Corporate boxes if anything is needed.
