India won the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 by beating South Africa in the final.

India created history on February 1, 2025, by winning their second ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup trophy when they beat South Africa in the final in Kuala Lumpur by nine wickets. Both teams were unbeaten heading into the final, with India prevailing in the title clash as well.

The inaugural edition of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup was played in 2023 in South Africa, where Shafali Verma captained India to the title.

Now, Niki Prasad has led India to the trophy at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 in Malaysia.

India had recorded emphatic victories throughout the tournament, and they did so in the final as well. South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first but were put under pressure straightaway by the Indian bowlers.

They slipped to 20/3 in 4.1 overs and India further pressed the paddle on the scoring rate by picking up regular wickets. The South African batting unit just couldn’t get going, and eventually were bowled out for only 82 runs. Their highest scorer was Mieke van Voorst, who scored 23 and the next highest scorer in the innings was Jemma Botha with 16.

For India, Gongadi Trisha returned with terrific figures of 3/15. Three other bowlers – Parunika Sisodia, Aayushi Shukla, and Vaishnavi Sharma – took two wickets each.

The chase was made a breeze by opener Gongadi Trisha, who scored 44* runs off 33 balls, and No. 3 batter Sanika Chalke scored 26* off 22 balls. Chalke hit the winning boundary as India won by nine wickets and with more than eight overs to spare.
