India won ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, beating South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai.
After a month full of entertainment, high-quality cricket and thrilling action, ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 concluded on Sunday (November 2). The Indian Women’s Cricket Team finally ended their title drought to lay their hands on the coveted title for the first time.
ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 was host to some of the magical performances in the tournament. However, it was Australia, England, South Africa and India, who made it to semi-finals of the tournament.
In the semi-final 1, South Africa crushed England to book their berth in the final, while the second semi-final saw India’s class written all over it. They chased a massive target of 339 against Australia, scripting the record for the highest ever chase in WODIs.
The final was nothing more than exceptional, where India batted first after losing the toss. They had a great start with openers Smriti Mandhana (45) and Shafali Varma (87) adding 104 runs for the opening stand. After a handy contributions from the middle-order, they had a strong finish with the bat.
Deepti Sharma (58) slammed a valiant fifty, while Richa Ghosh (34) batted brilliantly to take India close to 300. They ended with 298 runs on the board and for South Africa, Ayabonga Khaka bagged three wickets.
In the chase, South Africa lost two wickets in Tanzim Brits (23) and Anneke Bosch early. But skipper Laura Wolvaardt kept the hopes of South African fans alive. She slammed a blistering century, ending with the innings of 101 runs off 98 balls.
Annerie Dercksen (37) and Sune Luus supported her well but the Indian spinners were spot on the ball. Deepti Sharma picked five wickets, while Shafali Varma, two, and Sree Charani, one, were in the wickets as India beat South Africa by 52 runs to win ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
