ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025: Is there a reserve day for semi-finals?

ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 semi-finals are scheduled to be played on October 29 and 30.
The group stage of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 has concluded. The four semi-finalist teams have been finalized in Australia Women, England Women, South Africa Women and co-hosts India Women.
The first semi-final of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati between England and South Africa. The second semi-final of the tournament will be played at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, between Australia and India.
While cricket is the sole center of attraction in this ICC event, the focus also remains on the rain, which has forced the cancellation of not one, but six group stage matches. While the majority of the abandoned matches occurred in Colombo, games in India were also affected to some degree. Even the final group stage encounter in Navi Mumbai yielded no results.
What will happen if the semi-finals are washed out? Are there reserve days?
There is little chance that the weather will have an impact on the first semi-final, which will take place in Guwahati between South Africa and England. The weather on Wednesday, October 29, appears to be rather favorable, and all three of the games that have taken place in Guwahati thus far have produced results.
Nevertheless, there is a chance that it will rain during the entire scheduled game. Predictions are at a 25% probability of rain and a 63% humidity level throughout the game.
The second semi-final between Australia and India will be the main match, and the semi-final is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM IST, but the forecast suggests more than 50 per cent chance of rain later in the match day.
Both semi-finals have reserve days scheduled for the day after the designated semi-final day, which is Thursday, October 30, for the first semi-final and Friday, October 31, for the second.
While the ICC Playing Conditions say that “every effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day with any necessary reduction in overs,” the contest will be extended onto the reserve day if a result cannot be achieved.
If a 50-over semi-final game is interrupted by rain and the match is shortened, but no further play is possible that day, it will revert to a full 50-over game when resumed on the reserve day.
However, if play resumes after the reduction and is later abandoned due to rain, the reduced number of overs will carry over to the reserve day. For a result to be declared, each team must face a minimum of 20 overs.
If rain also stops play on the reserve day, the team with the most points from the group stage will progress to the final. This implies that England will advance from the first semi-final and Australia from the second.
The final will also include a reserve day on November 3, the day after the scheduled final, in Navi Mumbai. Positive predictions include scattered rains on the final day and sporadic rain on the reserve day. If both days are wiped out, the teams will share the trophy.
