When will the next cycle of the ICC World Test Championship (ICC WTC 2025-27) begin?

The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 saw South Africa lift the test mace after beating Australia in the final.
The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 concluded with the final between the South Africa Cricket Team and the Australia Cricket Team. The match took place at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London between 11th to 14th June.
South Africa Cricket Team were crowned as the winners of the ICC WTC 2023-25 after they beat Australia by five wickets. It also ended the long wait of 27 years for the Proteas to win the International Cricket Council (ICC) title.
While the 2023-25 cycle gave immense joy and thrill to fans, the focus now turns towards the next cycle. The upcoming edition will begin this month and will end in 2027. The format will remain the same, with each team playing six series, three home and three away. The top two teams in the points table will play the final.
When will the next cycle of the ICC World Test Championship begin?
The next cycle of the ICC WTC (2025-27) will begin with the test series between the Sri Lanka Cricket Team and the Bangladesh Cricket Team. The new edition will kick off from 17th June at the Galle International Cricket Stadium in Galle.
Just after that, England and India will be seen in action in a five-match test series, which will be the first assignment for both teams in the new ICC WTC cycle. The series will begin from 20th June at Headingley in Leeds.
Defending champions South Africa will open their campaign with Pakistan in a two-match series in October. Australia and the West Indies will kick off their new cycle with a two-match test series, starting on the 25th of June.
