Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood added 59 runs for tenth wicket in ICC WTC 2023-25 final against South Africa.
The Australian Cricket Team took command of the game in the final of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 against the South African Cricket Team. The summit clash between the teams is taking place at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
The reason behind the Australian Cricket Team taking the front seat in the ICC WTC 2023-25 final was Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, but with the bat. The pacers displayed a magnificent effort down the order and helped their team post a massive target on the board.
After taking a lead of 74 runs in the first innings, the Australian Cricket Team struggled to get going with the bat. They lost wickets in a flash and were reeling at 73/7. However, after that, Alex Carey (43) fought hard but couldn’t carry on the start that he had, as the defending champions were left at 134/8.
But Mitchell Starc held the fort for his team with the bat. He walked out to bat when Australia were at 73/7 and first played a great supporting hand to Carey as the duo added 61 runs for eight wickets. After the keeper-batter was back, the centre stage was taken by Starc.
The left-arm pacer looked comfortable with the bat as he made sure that he took the game out of reach for South Africa. He, along with Josh Hazlewood, gave a tough time to the opposition and made sure that they stood tall for their side in a pressure situation.
Mitchell Starc slammed a brilliant half-century and ended with an innings of unbeaten 58 runs off 136 balls. On the other hand, Josh Hazlewood scored 17 runs off 53 balls as the duo together added 59-run partnership for the tenth wicket.
This was also the fifth-highest partnership by visiting 10th-wicket pair at the Lord’s. Their heroics with the bat took Australia to a total of 207 runs as they set a massive target of 282 runs for South Africa to chase in the ICC WTC 2023-25 final.
