ICC unveils match officials for ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 final

ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 final will take place at the Lord’s between Australia and South Africa.
The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Friday, May 23, announced the match officials for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final. The ICC WTC 2023-25 final will take place between Australia and South Africa next month.
The clash will be played from June 11 to June 15. The venue of the encounter is Lord’s in London. ICC has appointed Chris Gaffaney and Richard Illingworth as the on-field umpires for the clash. Gaffaney is an experienced umpire from New Zealand, while Illingworth is a popular umpire from England.
Both of them were also the on-field umpires during India vs Australia final of ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Illingworth was also the match official during the last two WTC finals in 2021 and 2023. Hence, he will play the role of on-field umpire in ICC WTC final for the third time in a row. He is also the current ICC Umpire of the Year.
Javagal Srinath appointed as referee of ICC WTC 2023-25 final
Former Indian player Javagal Srinath has been picked as the match referee for ICC WTC 2023-25 final. Richard Kettleborough from England has been appointed as the TV umpire. He also played the same role during WTC 2019-21 final between India and New Zealand.
India’s Nitin Menon has been named as the fourth umpire. He served as the TV umpire during ICC T20 World Cup final 2021. Menon will be making his debut as a match official in World Test Championship final.
Meanwhile, Australia and South Africa have announced their squads for the ICC WTC 2023-2025 final. Pat Cummins will lead Australia in the match, while Temba Bavuma is the skipper of South Africa. Both teams captured the top two spots in ICC WTC 2023-25 points table to capture a berth in the final.
South Africa topped the points table with a PCT of 69.44, winning eight tests and losing three matches out of 12 (1 draw). Australia won 13 games and lost four matches out of 19 tests to finish in the second place with PCT of 67.54. Two matches ended in a draw.
