West Indies dropped to bottom of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table after losing the second test against Bangladesh by 101 runs.

The second test between West Indies and Bangladesh, which was played at Sabina Park, ended with the visitors winning by 101 runs. Bangladesh put up a brilliant comeback after their first innings batting collapse where they were bowled out for 164 runs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and chose to bat first. The West Indies pace trio of Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph starred for the hosts, restricting the Bangla Tigers to 164. Opener Shadman Islam top-scored for Bangladesh with 64, while captain Mehidy chipped in with 36 valuable runs.

Much was expected from the West Indies batting lineup but they couldn’t withstand the brilliance of Nahid Rana. Due to Nadhi’s impressive bowling performance of 5/61, the hosts were bowled out for only 146 runs.

Bangladesh seized more control of the match in the second innings, thanks to useful middle-order contributions from Jaker Ali, Shahadat Hossain and Mehidy Hasan. Mehidy and Shadman stitched a 70-run partnership for the third wicket, pushing the visitors to a commanding lead of 286 runs.

Though captain Kraigg Brathwaite (43) and Kavem Hodge (55) showed some resilience in the chase, the hosts were bowled out for 185 runs, losing by 101 runs. Spinner Taijul Islam was the star with the ball, claiming five wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud scalped two wickets each.
