This is India’s second loss in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25.
England stunned India in the first test at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. England outclassed India in the first of five test match series by 28 runs. Team India failed to chase down a target of 231 runs in the fourth innings and succumbed to English left-arm spinners. Tom Hartley and Jack Leach bowled beautifully to allow England to take a lead of 1-0 in the five-match series.
Indian batters struggled in the second innings and looked out of touch. Most of the Indian batters lost their wicket due to poor application against the English spin-bowling attack. Ravi Ashwin and wicket-keeper KS Bharat did show some determination to extend the game for a day and take India close to the target but Bharat and Ashwin’s poor application on crunch moments made the game slip away from Team India.
