Australia are still leading in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 Points Table after being defeated by West Indies in a historic contest at Gabba.

West Indies have done the unthinkable at the Gabba and broke Australia’s long-standing pride at home after team India. A special bowling display from debutant Shamar Joseph has led West Indies to a historical eight-run victory against the mighty Australians. They also ended Australia’s winning streak in the current home summer.

Shamar Joseph picked up seven wickets in the second innings to bundle out Australia who were eight runs short of the target. Shamar rattled Australia in the whole test match and picked up eight wickets. West Indies had an encouraging performance at the Gabba and challenged Australians comprehensively. West Indies have won a test match in Australia after a huge gap of 27 years.

Despite a marginal loss in terms of runs but a huge in terms of historical value, Australia have maintained their pole position in the ICC WTC 2023-25 points table. This is Australia’s third loss in 10 games in the ongoing ICC WTC cycle. With 55 PCT points, Australia remain at the top of the table. They have 66 points from 120 contested in their campaign so far. This loss might make a huge dent in the defending champions’ campaign in the ongoing cycle.

West Indies have jumped one place up and they are now placed seventh in the points table. West Indies have so far played have had one draw against India and now after a huge valuable win against Australia, they have earned 33.33 PCT points from 48 contested. West Indies have 16 overall points in four games. West Indies suffered a huge loss against Australia at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide in the series opener.

Team India are currently second in the table with 54.11 PCT points. India are currently struggling against England in Hyderabad and India’s loss will make Australia a little comfortable in the points table. South Africa, New Zealand and Bangladesh are third, fourth and fifth respectively with 50 PCT points each. Pakistan placed sixth with 36.66 PCT points. Sri Lanka are languishing at the bottom with zero points.
