India won their second match in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 campaign.

The two-match test series between South Africa and India ended in a draw with each team winning one game. South Africa dominated India in the first test in Centurion and now in Cape Town, the visitors bounced back nicely to defeat South Africa in the second test. The Cape Town test concluded in just five sessions. Only 463 runs were scored and 33 wickets fell in two days at Newlands, Cape Town.

It was all about bowlers in the entire second test match as pacers dominated the game. Mohammed Siraj began with a 6-wicket haul to dismiss South Africa for just 55 runs then Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada scripted one of the finest comebacks for South Africa. Aiden Markram was the only hero with bat and scored a 99-ball century in South Africa’s second innings. Later on, India chased down 79 runs and won the game by 7 wickets.

Team India are back at the top of ICC World Test Championship 2023-24 Points Table. India earned 12 overall points from the Cape Town test. They now have 26 points in 48 contested points. With 54.16 PCT points, India get the pole position after the end of their South African tour. India will play a five-match series against England in their next assignment at home.

South Africa after one win and one loss have slipped down to the second spot in the WTC points table. South Africa have 12 overall points in 24 contested and with 50 PCT points, the Proteas are second in the table. New Zealand also have slipped one place down and have 50 PCT points in two test matches the have played. They are now third in the points table. Australia with 50 PCT and 42 overall points are placed fourth in the table.

Bangladesh are placed fifth in the table with 50 PCT points. Bangladesh won a test match against New Zealand last month. Pakistan are now sixth with 45.83 PCT points. Pakistan are currently playing their third and final test of the series against Australia in Sydney. West Indies remains seventh with 16.67 PCT points, England are placed eighth with 15 PCT points and Sri Lanka are yet to open their account in the table.
