ICC World Test Championship 2023-25: Dinesh Karthik predicts two finalists, winners of the final

Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has named two teams, who he thinks will play the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final at the Lord’s, London.

Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed that the WTC final match will be played at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. The championship match will be played from June 11 to June 15, with the 16th being a reserve day.

Since the inception of the World Test Championship, India have played two consecutive finals with the first one coming in 2021 and the second in 2023. Sadly, the Asian giants couldn’t cross the final hurdle on both occasions.

In the 2019-21 final, India suffered defeat at the hands of New Zealand. In the 2021–23 final, Australia thrashed the Indian side.

With the ongoing WTC 2023-25 cycle getting heated up with several teams contesting for the ultimate title, former Indian cricketer Karthik has predicted the finalists and the winners of the ongoing cycle.

The former Indian cricketer Karthik feels that India and Australia could meet once again in the WTC 2023-25 final next year. Karthik also backed the Indian cricket team to take revenge by defeating current WTC champions Australia.

“I think it’s going to be Australia will be in the World Test Championship final and that is India’s chance to get redemption. Two years ago they beat us at the Oval. Here is a chance that’s going to come again in 2025 and I genuinely wish India goes on to cross that hurdle and beat Australia in that World Test Championship final,” Dinesh Karthik said in a video uploaded by Cricbuzz.

India and Australia are currently placed at the top two positions in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings.
