England won their second game of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 as they beat India by 22 runs at the Lord’s.

The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 saw a magnificent encounter between the England Cricket Team and the Indian Cricket Team in what was the third game of the five-match series. The game between the two teams took place at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

England had a sensational outing with the bat and ball as they registered their second win of the ongoing ICC WTC cycle. They defeated India by 22 runs and also took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, having won the first game by a massive margin in Leeds.

England won the toss and opted to bat first. They didn’t have a great start to the game as both the openers in Zak Crawley (18) and Ben Duckett (23) and were left reeling at 44 for two. However, after that, Ollie Pope (44) and Joe Root (104) brought their team back in the game.

Root slammed a terrific century and after Pope, skipper Ben Stokes (44) supported him as they kept scoring runs at a decent rate. In the end, Jamie Smith (51) and Brydon Carse (56) slammed fifties as England posted a total of 387. For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with his fifer.

India came up with the same effort and they also got all out for 387 runs. KL Rahul (100) scored his second ton of the series while Rishabh Pant (74) and Ravindra Jadeja (72) also played brilliant innings, slamming solid fifties.

Nitish Kumar Reddy (30) and Washington Sundar (23) played vital hands as well, but India lost wickets in a flash in the end as the scores got levelled.

In the second innings, England faced a batting collapse as they got all out for just 192 runs. Washington Sundar was the top pick with the ball as he picked four wickets. While Joe Root (40) was the top run-getter for his team as they set a target of 193 runs.

India had a terrible start to the chase as they lost four wickets in the last hour of day four and were left at 58/4. The start of day five was something similar for them as Rishabh Pant got out early. KL Rahul (39), who looked solid, couldn’t take his team home.

Washington Sundar also fell for a duck as India were left reeling at 82/7. Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy (13) showed great grit with the bat, adding 30 runs but just at the stroke of the lunch, the right-hander lost his wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja (61*) kept grinding hard after that and slammed his fourth consecutive half-century of the series. He got great support from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who batted more than 80 balls combined. But the luck was on England’s side as they ended India’s innings on 170 to win the game by 22 runs.
