Rishabh Pant notched up his sixth test century in the 1st IND vs BAN test in Chennai.

Legendary Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist has lavished huge praise on Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant, who has made his comeback to test cricket with a century against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Gilchrist, who was a pioneer of sorts in his role as a wicket-keeper who would bat aggressively and win games for Australia, has opined that Pant is more attacking than even him.

On Saturday, against Bangladesh at Chepauk, Pant registered his sixth test century in what was his first test match since his car accident in December 2022.

Speaking on Pant’s batting approach, Gilchrist heaped praise on the “fearless” Indian left-hander.

Gilchrist told Cricket.com, “I reckon he attacks a bit more than I did. I played an aggressive brand at that time, but Rishabh, he looks fearless. What I do like is that he occasionally puts a foot on the brake and absorbs a bit of pressure. So he’s a class act.

I would happily pay money to watch Rishabh Pant play: Adam Gilchrist

The Australian hailed Pant’s entertainment value, adding, “He is, what you say, bums on seats and people pay money well and truly. I would happily pay money to watch him play cricket. So that’s a great quality to have, I think, if people are acknowledging in that manner because he gets the results, he’s a winner and a survivor, as we know. He’s all class in everything he does. He’s good fun, he’s got the humour. He knows how to go about a very serious business in a fun way.”

The ton in Chennai was Pant’s sixth in test cricket. Four of his test centuries have come in England, Australia, and South Africa; Pant is the only Asian wicket-keeper who has slammed centuries in these three countries in test cricket.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill raised his fifth test ton. Through the hundreds from these two India set a target of 515 runs for Bangladesh. By stumps on day 3, Bangladesh have lost four wickets for 158 runs.
