Afghanistan will host India in September for a T20I series.
India are set to clash with Afghanistan (IND vs AFG) in a three-match T20I series in September. BCCI has announced the official schedule on August 11. The matches will be played on September 13, 15 and 17 in New Delhi.
The Men in Blue locked horns with Afghanistan in ODIs in June after the Indian Premier League 2026. India won the contest 3-0. However, Afghanistan are a far more competitive T20I side. They qualified for the semi-final in the T20 World Cup 2024 and famously beat Australia as well.
Shreyas Iyer and Co. last played a T20I series against Zimbabwe in the last week of July. India won the series 3-0. This win came after two consecutive series defeats against Ireland (2-0) and England (4-0).
India had also rested several regular T20I players, such as Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson, and Axar Patel, for the Zimbabwe tour. On the other hand, Afghanistan last played a T20I against India in 2024, during the T20 World Cup. India won that contest by 47 runs.
Afghanistan have won their last three T20I series: 3-0 against Zimbabwe, 1-0 against Qatar, and 2-1 against West Indies. The rise of their T20I team has orchestrated another bilateral series with India.
