IND vs AUS 1st T20I will be played at the ACA-VDCA stadium in Vishakapatnam on Thursday.

The Australian cricket team will be concluding their Indian tour with a five-match T20I series against India starting on Thursday in Visakhapatnam. They played a three-match ODI series against India before the World Cup and will be playing a T20I series after. Australia recently won the World Cup title defeating India in the final played at Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. They defeated India by 6 wickets in the game.

With Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Cameron Green and David Warner flying back to home to rest, Australia will be playing with a new playing combination. Mathew Wade will be leading the side and probably Steve Smith will be opening the batting. Let’s have a look at the probable playing XI of the tourists that will take on India at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag.

Here’s Australia’s playing XI vs India for the first T20I (Predicted):

1. Travis Head:

Australia’s World Cup 2023 hero Travis Head will be taking up the responsibility as an opener in the upcoming T20I series against India. Left-hander has been running in high form and played a magnificent knock of 137 runs in the final. His T20I record is below average and he will be looking to turn it around in this format as well.

2. Steve Smith:

Middle-order batter Steve Smith might get the opportunity to open the innings along with Travis Head. David Warner is absent and will be taking rest before their scheduled test series against Pakistan down under. Due to Warner’s absence, Smith will be given the role of an opener in the Australian playing XI rather than a middle-order batsman.

3. Mathew Wade (C):

Wicket-keeper Mathew Wade will be leading Australia in the upcoming five-match T20I series as Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh are both given rest. As Smith is promoted to opening the batting to keep a left and right combination, Wade will be batting at number 3 player in the XI. Wade has led the side in 7 T20I games and won only 2 so far.

4. Glenn Maxwell:

All-rounder Glenn Maxwell will be playing a crucial role for his side in the upcoming T20I series starting on Thursday. Maxwell has been a top-performer for Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and smashed a double century against Afghanistan. He will be expected to deliver for his side in the absence of several key players.

5. Marcus Stoinis:

All-rounder Marcus Stoinis might not had a great performance under his name in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 but in the shortest format he has been a gun player for Australia. Marcus Stoinis will be taking up the responsibility in the middle-order alongside Glenn Maxwell and he will also chip in with a few overs in the middle with his pace.

6. Josh Inglis (WK):

Young wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis’ confidence must be running high after a decent outing for Australia in the World Cup winning campaign. Inglis’ crucial 28 against South Africa was enough for Australia to qualify in yet another ICC event final. Inglis will be keeping the wickets for Australia in the T20I series. He has played 12 T20I games so far in his career.

7. Tim David:

Tim David has been a find for Australian cricket in the shortest format of the game. Out of 28 T20I games he has played, David played 14 games for Australia and scored 247 runs at an average of just 24.70. David is assigned the role of a finisher in the team and he is doing it comfortably with his power-hitting. The IPL experience will also come in handy for him.

8. Sean Abbott:

Sean Abbott had a terrific series against India just before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and bowled a few great spells. Abbott will be expected to replicate the performance in the T20I series as well. Abbott has played only one game in the last one month for his side. He has played 12 T20Is for Australia and picked up 13 wickets in his career.

9. Nathan Ellis:

Along with Tim David, Right-arm pacer Nathan Ellis is also considered as the next big thing in Australian cricket. Nathan Ellis will be taking up the responsibility in Australia’s pace attack and will be a crucial powerplay bowler. Nathan Ellis has played 8 T20I games for Australia and picked up 18 wickets. Ellis will be a crucial player for Australia in the upcoming series.

10. Jason Behrendorff:

Along with Nathan Ellis and Sean Abbott, Jason Behrendorff will be the third pace bowler in the bowling attack for Australia. Jason Behrendorff is coming back after a long time due to injury. Behrendorff has played a few List-A games in Australia domestic circuit and will be making his comeback in the playing XI. Behrendorff will also have to look after his fitness in the series.

11. Adam Zampa:

Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa ended up as second highest wicket-taker in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and took 23 wickets in 11 games. Zampa had a few failures initially but made a roaring comeback in the mega event. Australia will be using Adam Zampa’s form to their benefit in the upcoming five-match T20I series against India starting on Thursday in Visakhapatnam.
