India trial by 116 runs after day 3 of the IND vs AUS fourth test in Melbourne.
While Australia continue to remain well ahead in the Boxing Day test, it was a great day for India as 21-year-old Nitish Kumar Reddy recorded his maiden test century in what is his first test series.
It was an exciting third day of the MCG test with India landing their punches back at the Aussies and not tapping out easily.
In reply to Australia’s 474-run first innings total, India slipped to 221/7 with Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja being the first two batters to lose their wickets in the morning. However, India found a lifeline in this test match through all-rounders Reddy and Washington Sundar.
The pair forged a partnership of 127 runs, which is the second-highest eighth wicket stand for India in tests in Australia. Sundar departed for 50, but Reddy went onto to bring up a sublime century under immense pressure.
At stumps on day 3 at the MCG, India are 358/9, still trialing by 116 more runs.
