India's tour of Australia 2025
IND vs AUS: Shubman Gill, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur to miss 3rd ODI in Rajkot - Reports

IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back for the third ODI vs AUS in Rajkot
Team India have dominated Australia in the ongoing three-match series at home so far. They registered a thrashing win in the first two games to take a 2-0 unassailable lead in the series. With the series already in the bag, the Indian teams have had some experience with their squad. The IND vs AUS 3rd ODI is set to take place on September 27.
This match will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The Indian management gave rest to their senior players in the first two matches, and KL Rahul led the team. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Kuldeep Yadav are back in the squad and are likely to feature in the playing XI for the third game. This will also be the last match before the start of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
IND vs AUS: Axar Patel, Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur to miss the 3rd ODI vs AUS in Rajkot
As per the latest update, Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur have not traveled with the team, and the Indian management has given them a break from the third ODI. On the other hand, Axar Patel, who was recovering from his injury, has also been rested, and he will be back for the World Cup warmup matches for India. Rohit and Virat will be back in the batting department.
However, veteran pacer Mohammed Shami has also not traveled to Rajkot with the team and is likely to miss the game. With that, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was rested for the first two matches, didn't travel with the team either. That has left India with 13 available players at the moment in Rajkot, and in case of any fielding substitute, they will have to pick a local first-class player during the third ODI.
Axar Patel was left out due to a left quadriceps strain and was supposed to join the team in the third game. But the Indian management wanted to give him more time and get him ready. But if he does not make it in time, India have options in Ravi Ashwin and Washington Sundar to replace in the World Cup squad. Rohit already indicated that the Australian series will decide how ready Ashwin is for the World Cup, and he has done a great job so far.
