Jasprit Bumrah has shared his thoughts after India’s historic victory against Australia in Perth.

India etched their name in cricket history by becoming the first team to defeat Australia at Perth’s new Optus Stadium in a test match.

Australia, who had an impeccable record at Optus Stadium in Perth over the past few years, were shambolic with the bat against the Indian bowlers. The pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana ran riot against the Aussies sharing 16 wickets between them.

Despite first innings failure, the Indian batting department stood up to the task in the second innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal top scored for the visitors with 161 in the second innings, while the experienced duo of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli further established Indian dominance with their innings of 77 and 100* respectively in the second innings of the test.

Travis Head was Australia’s best performer scoring a counter-attacking 89 in the second innings with Mitchell Marsh playing the supporting role with his 47-run knock. Big guns Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith had an awful game with both the experienced batters not even crossing the 20-run mark in the game.

Jasprit Bumrah reflects on the win: “We didn’t play our best cricket”

In the post-match interview, Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, emphasizing that the experience of playing a test here in 2018 helped the team in understanding the pitch better.

Played in 2018. It starts soft and then gets quicker. On a given day, experience does matter, but if you have faith you can do something special. Can’t ask for anything else.” Bumrah said

Sharing his thoughts on team’s comeback after disappointing first innings batting performance, Bumrah added, “Very happy with the beginning. Were put under pressure in the first innings, but the way we responded after that – very proud.

Bumrah also reflected on Virat Kohli’s form, “About Virat – I didn’t see him out of form at all. On challenging wickets it’s hard to judge if a batsman is in form. He was looking good in the nets.” he concluded.

Both teams will meet in Adelaide for the Day-Night test starting on December 6.
