KL Rahul missed an easy chance to run-out Marnus Labuschagne in the first ODI in Mohali.
Team India are having a tough day on the field against Australia in the first ODI at PCA Stadium. A lot of misfields and a few run-out chances have been missed by Indian fielders. Stand-in captain KL Rahul is also looking a little under pressure behind the wickets. Rahul missed an easy chance of a run-out in the 23rd over of the Australian innings that could have got Marnus Labuschagne out early in his innings.
Rahul's costly miss?
In the first ball of the 23rd over, Marnus Labuschagne played a cover drive to Ravindra Jadeja and set off for a single but got no response from Cameron Green at the other end. Labuschagne had to go back quickly, in the meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav stopped the ball and threw it back to the keeper KL Rahul. Labuschagne was almost halfway down but Rahul felt a bit of pressure and failed to collect the throw.

KL Rahul’s costly miss allowed Marnus Labuschagne to come back safely and the Indian captain felt a bit dejected. Australia have got off to a decent start against India in the first ODI at PCA Stadium in Mohali. After losing Mitchell Marsh early in the first over, opener David Warner (52) and Steve Smith (41) had a 94-run stand for the 2nd wicket.
India did make a comeback with two wickets as Shami dismissed Steve Smith and Jadeja got David Warner out. Marnus Labuschagne went on to add 45 runs for the 4th wicket along with all-rounder Cameron Green. Ravichandran Ashwin got him out stumped on 39 runs. Once again KL Rahul failed to collect the ball but luckily it hit the stumps after touching when Labuschagne was trying to get back to his crease.
Misfielding from India has allowed Australian batters to keep the scoring rate going at a steady pace. Indian bowlers have failed to build a dot ball pressure. India are playing without Mohammed Siraj as he has not been feeling well since he came back from Sri Lanka. Mohammed Shami is given an opportunity in the playing XI. So far, Shami, Bumrah, and Jadeja are among the wickets in Mohali.
