IND vs AUS: Australia have lost their 5th consecutive ODI game this month.
Team India have sealed the 3-match ODI series against Australia as they thrash Australia by 99 runs in the Duckworth-Lewis- Stern (DLS) method. It was an all-round effort from India at Holkar Stadium in Indore to hand Australia their fifth consecutive ODI defeat. Batting first, India put a huge 399 runs on the board as their highest-ever total against Australia in an ODI. Shreyas Iyer (105) and Shubman Gill (104) put on a double-century stand for the second wicket to give India the momentum they needed and aim for a big total. Iyer started aggressively with his innings and set the tone for his team. His shot selection was top-quality throughout his innings, and he scored his third ODI century.
Shubman Gill’s consistency has impressed everyone, as he went on to score his 5th ODI century in 2023 and 6th overall in just 35 ODI games. After the top-order, it was a run-fest for the middle-order as well. KL Rahul (52), Suryakumar Yadav (72*), and Ishan Kishan (31) also smashed Australian bowlers all around the park. Cameron Green conceded 103 runs in his 10 overs. Suryakumar Yadav smashed four consecutive sixes in Green’s one-over. Chasing 400, Australian innings was hit by rain, and the target was reduced to 317 runs in 33 overs. Ravi Ashwin (3/41) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/42) bowled beautifully to stop Australian innings with just 217 runs.
