Rohit Sharma has shared his thoughts after India’s defeat against Australia in Adelaide.

Australian Cricket team continued their undefeated streak in the day-night tests at the Adelaide Oval with their commanding 10-wicket victory over India.

India, who defeated Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth, were shambolic against the pink ball. The pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Scott Boland ran riot against the Asian Giants, sharing all 20 wickets between them.

After their failures in the first test, the Australian batting department stood up to the task in the second game. Travis Head top-scored for the hosts with 140 runs in the first innings, while Marnus Labuschagne chipped in with vital 64 runs.

Nitish Kumar Reddy emerged as India’s standout performer, scoring 84 runs and chipping in with a crucial wicket of Marnus. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj toiled hard for the visitors accounting for four wickets each in Australia’s first innings.

Big guns Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had an awful game with both the experienced batters not even crossing the 20-run mark.

Rohit Sharma reflects on the defeat: “We failed to grab our opportunities”

In the post-match interview, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance, emphasizing that the team failed to make the most of their chances.

Rohit said, “Disappointing week for us, we didn’t play well enough to win the game and Australia played better than us. There were times in the game where we could have grabbed those opportunities but we failed to do that and that cost us the game.

Reflecting on Australia’s brilliant record in the pink ball test, Rohit admitted, “We knew it was going to be challenging with the pink ball. Like I said, Australia was better than us.”

The Indian skipper is looking to bounce back in the next game, saying “We are quite looking forward to it (Gabba Test), there’s not much time in between as well. We want to go out there and think about what we did right in Perth and what we did last time when we were here.”
