The second IND vs BAN test will be played from September 27 at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
As the trend continues, Team India registered yet another win at home in the first IND vs BAN test in Chennai. It was a dominating performance from the hosts as they thrashed Bangladesh by a massive margin of 280 runs.
With this, they have taken a 1-0 unassailable lead in the series, with the second game all set to start on September 27 at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. India also announced their squad for the second IND vs BAN test.
India have gone with unchanged squad for the second game as well, but with considering India’s long test season, which includes five-match away tour of Australia later this year, we feel the BCCI should’ve rested three stars, who will play a major role in the upcoming matches.
IND vs BAN: Three Indian players who should’ve been rested for the 2nd test
1. Jasprit Bumrah
The ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is probably the most important member for Team India across formats. But, his role in the test side is even more crucial for the team. India have to play eight more tests after this series against New Zealand and Australia.
That’s where Bumrah will be much needed. Hence, India should have rested Bumrah from the second test against Bangladesh. India have Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, and Akhash Deep as backup pacers as well.
2. Ravindra Jadeja
In test cricket, Ravindra Jadeja is a big name. His match-winning ability in all three departments is one of the reasons behind India’s success in the longest format of the game. He showed it in the first IND vs BAN test and scored 86 runs and took five wickets in the game.
But, he is in the later half of his career, and India need him to play all important games coming up. India also have the option of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav to choose from. That’s why we feel Jadeja should’ve been rested from the second test in Kanpur.
3. Rishabh Pant
Just like Jadeja and Bumrah, Rishabh Pant is also a vital cog in India’s test lineup and he proved it rightaway when he made comeback to the test side after more than 600 days and slammed a sensational hundred in the second innings.
With India set to play eight more tests after the Bangladesh series and considering Pant just made comeback to the game in March this year and has been playing continuously, we feel the BCCI should’ve given Pant some break before the New Zealand tests as well as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he will be more important.
