IND vs BAN: Indian Cricket Team playing 11 for 2nd test, Kanpur - Predicted
Second IND vs BAN test will be played from September 27 in Kanpur.
The dominance of the Indian Cricket Team at home continued as they crushed Bangladesh in the first test in Chennai by a massive margin of 280 runs. The hosts have taken a 1-0 unassailable lead in the series.
The second IND vs BAN test will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, starting on September 27. India have retained the same squad for the second test as well. They might look to make some changes to the playing XI as a long season is coming ahead.
The hosts might rest some players, or they can look to go with the same XI to give more gametime to the players. Below, we will predict India’s playing XI for the second test against Bangladesh.
IND vs BAN: Indian Cricket Team playing 11 for 2nd test, Kanpur – Predicted
1. Rohit Sharma (c)
Being the captain, Rohit Sharma will be the first name on the team sheet. Rohit didn’t have a great game in the first test in Chennai, where he recorded scores of 6 and 5. The Indian captain was in good form before coming to the first game, but he couldn’t score much in the game. He will now hope to add some runs to his belt in the second test.
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hit a fifty in the first innings of the Chennai test, will retain his place at the top. He has become India’s first-choice opener to pair up with captain Rohit Sharma at the top in whites and the team will look to give him more exposure ahead of the test series against New Zealand and Australia.
3. Shubman Gill
Despite getting out on a duck in the first innings of Chennai test, Shubman Gill returned with a bang and smashed a hundred in the second innings, becoming ninth Indian batter to hit a century in the second innings of a test after getting out for a duck in the first.
He would like to stabilize India’s batting even more batting at No. 3.
4. Virat Kohli
Just like Rohit, Virat Kohli also had a below-average match in Chennai. He scored 6 and 17 in two innings of the game. It was Virat’s first test since January 2024. He looked rusty with the bat. India need him in his run-scoring form because he is one of biggest match-winners in the team and his form will be crucial going forward.
5. KL Rahul
KL Rahul also made his comeback to the test side in the Chennai test against Bangladesh. He was among the batters who struggled in the first innings, but looked better in the second. Rahul’s technique is solid, and India would want to give him more confidence. He himself will be looking to add some runs under his belt and get in the rhythm.
6. Rishabh Pant (wk)
Test comeback after almost 600+ days and a brilliant counter-attacking century – that’s Rishabh Pant for you. He is definitely India’s X-factor and key member of the Indian test side. Pant scored most runs in the Chennai test, and the more he plays, the more he will be in form.
7. Ravindra Jadeja
There are speculations of Ravindra Jadeja being rested for the second test, but India have a gap of two weeks before the New Zealand test series starts after conclusion of Bangladesh tests. Hence, Jadeja might just get included in the playing XI for the Kanpur test despite India having a long test season.
Jadeja scored crucial runs and took crucial wickets in the first test in Chennai and that’s what will be expected from him in the second test as well.
8. Ravichandran Ashwin
The Man of the Match of the first game, Ravichandran Ashwin, had a record-breaking game in Chennai. He took his 37th five-wicket haul to equal Shane Warne, registered his sixth test hundred and became eighth highest wicket-taker in tests. It was a great game for him and he will be eyeing some other records as well in the second IND vs BAN test in Kanpur.
9. Axar Patel
The pitch in Kanpur is expected to be another turning track, and we might see India going with three spinners. That’s where India can look to bring in Axar Patel in place of Akashdeep. Axar is another in-form player in the test side, but didn’t get a chance in Chennai.
10. Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah is currently the most precious star in the Indian cricket team, and the management would want to use him smartly. But, because he is not playing much of white-ball cricket, he might feature in the second IND vs BAN test as well. He had a good first game, where he took five wickets in the match.
11. Mohammed Siraj
With Mohammed Shami not available due to injury, Mohammed Siraj is India’s second-choice pacer in the team. He did a decent job in the first match in the limited overs he got to bowl. The pacer has been doing well over the last couple of years and will get into groove as he plays more.
